The Brilliance of Reusable Produce Bags
Bali Bans Bags (Plastic ones…)
As awareness of the indiscriminate destruction caused by single-use plastic bags increases so to does our urge and desire to be involved in stemming the flow of this silent killer into our waterways and sensitive ecosystems.
Governments around the world are starting to ban these bags with one of the most recent media releases focusing on Bali - Indonesia’s ‘Island of the Gods’ & popular go-to destination for travellers the world over. Indonesia has long been infamous for it’s less-than-exemplary efforts to minimise pollution but in an unprecedented move the local government implemented a policy to remove single-use plastic bags from general circulation. I lived in Indonesia for several years and the use of plastic bags is extremely widespread - you can buy all kinds of street food served up in plastic bags including hot soup…the mind boggles.
The Bag Stops Here!
I suppose that living around the world and being exposed to extremes of cleanliness & pollution along the way has left a long-lasting and profound impact and influence on the way we choose our product materials. We don’t claim to offer the most organic and environmentally products because we believe in small steps and we also realise that for the most part many people when confronted with truly organic products are less than impressed by the unique set of challenges that come with them.
NZ home takes the middle ground preferring to transition people away from plastic bags in a more gentle and natural progression rather than plunging headfirst into the fully organic world that is often misunderstood by the average consumer.
